It is a Cultural Responsibility.
This magazine is a sacred home for truth-telling, restoration, and emotional safety across generations. Through storytelling, reflection, and ROOTED™ practices, we create space for families to break cycles, reclaim wisdom, and build a healthier legacy forward.
We Are Currently Accepting Submissions
We are inviting writers, storytellers, clinicians, youth voices, elders, artists, and cultural practitioners to contribute to an upcoming issue of Healing Family Wounds Magazine.
We are seeking work that is:

We welcome contributors across the diaspora, including:

Therapists, Social Workers, and Wellness Professionals

Youth and Teen Voices
Poets, Photographers, Designers, Artists, And Creatives
Elders and Cultural Knowledge Keepers
You Do Not Need To Be a Professional Writer To Be Published.
You only need to be willing to tell the truth with care.
Submission Categories
Personal Stories & Reflections
Stories of Healing Moments, Family Patterns Being Broken, Reconciliation, Repair, Boundaries, Grief + Growth, Identity + Belonging or Transformation.
Recommended Length: 800–1,500 words
ROOTED™ Healing Tools & Reflection Pieces
Articles aligned with the ROOTED™ framework: Reclaim, Own, Observe, Transform, Embody, Dream.
These Pieces can Iclude Healing Tools, Family Rituals, Reflection Prompts & Circle Lessons
Suggested length: 700–1,200 words
Clinical & Educational Articles
Psychoeducation, Family Healing, Attachment & Parenting Insights, Emotional Wellness Tools, Relationship Repair, Trauma Healing, Grounded in Culture and Accessible Language.
Suggested length: 900–1,600 words
Note: Submissions should not be academic writing with clinical jargon and should be culturally respectful.
Youth & Teen Voices
Honest reflections from youth navigating identity, family pressure, belonging, mental health, relationships, and hope.
Suggested length: 400–900 words
Poetry & Spoken Word
Poetry that carries truth, repair, grief, hope, and generational healing.
Suggested length: 1–3 poems
Visual Art, Photography & Creative Submissions
We welcome: Photography, Illustration, Artwork, Visual Storytelling
Submit as high-resolution images with a short caption or artist statement.
Trauma-Informed Writing Guidelines
We honor the reality of pain and trauma within families, while protecting emotional safety for both contributors and readers.
If your piece includes trauma, please include:
- Reflection and meaning (not graphic details)
- A lesson, insight, or turning point
- A grounding closing that helps the reader feel held
- A short Content Note if needed
We do not publish:
- Graphic descriptions of abuse or violence
- Hateful or dehumanizing language
- Content written to expose, shame, or retaliate against family members
- Identifying names, locations, or allegations that could create legal harm

Editorial Process
All submissions go through a review process that includes:
- Initial screening for fit and safety
- Editorial review for clarity, alignment, and readability
- Selection or revision requests
- Final approvals before publishing
We may request edits for:

- Emotional Safety
- Audience Accessibility

Compensation + Contributor Gifts
You can pick what fits your budget.
Option A: Volunteer - Community Contribution
This is a volunteer contribution to a sacred healing platform. Contributors receive recognition and contributor features. Access to the magazine is optional.
Option B — Stipend-Based Contributions
Selected contributors may receive a stipend, based on format, length, and available sponsorship support, ranging from $25 to $100 per accepted piece.
Option C — Hybrid
Stipends for key feature pieces and volunteer recognition for shorter submissions.
Option D — In-Kind Compensation
Receive a free event ticket or a Healing Circle pass. A printed magazine copy mailed to your US address, and ROOTED™ workshop credits.
