Healing is not an individual journey.
It is a family practice.
Healing Family Wounds Magazine is a global platform rooted in the lived experiences of African families across the diaspora, where storytelling, science, and community converge to restore connection across generations.
WHO WE ARE
We are more than a publication.
Healing Family Wounds Magazine is a biannual cultural and clinical platform designed to support intergenerational healing within African families across the diaspora.
We exist at the intersection of:
- Cultural identity
- Relational science
- Community healing
Our work brings together clinicians, community leaders, elders, and families to engage in one shared mission:
To restore connection, dignity, and emotional safety within the African family system.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
We do not pathologize families.
We contextualize them.
We understand that many of the challenges families face today are not individual failures, but responses to:
- Intergenerational trauma
- Migration and displacement
- Cultural disruption
- Systemic pressures
Our approach is grounded in one core belief:
Culture and emotional safety can coexist.
And when they do, families do not just survive. They thrive.
THE ROOTED™ FRAMEWORK
At the heart of our work is the ROOTED™ Framework for Intergenerational Healing.
This framework guides how we design every experience, from our magazine to our live events, retreats, and school programs.
It helps individuals and families:
- Reconnect with identity
- Understand relational patterns
- Build emotional safety
- Develop practical relational skills
- Restore intergenerational connection
This is not theory alone.
It is lived, practiced, and experienced in community.

OUR FOUNDER
Healing Family Wounds Magazine was founded by Gladys Beri
A clinician, researcher, and community facilitator whose work integrates:
- Trauma informed systemic therapy
- Executive coaching and leadership development
- African relational and cultural frameworks
Her vision is simple, yet profound: To create spaces where families can tell the truth about their experiences, learn new ways of relating, and rebuild connection across generations.
OUR COMMUNITY
We serve:
- Couples seeking deeper connection
- Parents navigating generational differences
- Youth and teenagers exploring identity
- Elders carrying wisdom and legacy
- Leaders balancing responsibility and relational health
Across cities, cultures, and generations, one truth connects us:
We all come from family. And we all deserve to experience healing within it.
WHY THIS WORK MATTERS
Unresolved relational wounds do not disappear.
- They are passed down.
- Through silence.
- Through patterns.
- Through disconnection.
But healing can also be passed down.
- Through awareness.
- Through intentional connection.
- Through new experiences of love.
This is the work we are committed to.
